Australian Federal Police is investigating breaches of security at Australian Bottle domen registrar, which may affect an unknown number of accounts and the domen name password.
Several calls placed in the bottle iTnews today were not returned.
But in a letter issued to clients today, the bottle says that the “number” of their accounts have been targeted and that it would “update” and your account password, and domen name for its customers “as a precaution.”
“While strict security in place, we took additional steps to enhance and ensure safety, including the rights of checking the registry key update, Andrew Stephen, General Manager of Bottle Domens, said the letter.
“We work in collaboration with the Australian domen administrator, the relevant authorities and independent security experts to examine and even to consider further measures to protect sensitive data.”
Australian domen administrator, auDA, has confirmed the violation occurred.
auDA chief Chris Disspain said that the bottle was asked to change passwords and to conduct an independent safety audit of its operating system.
“auDA is working with a bottle of domens to manage any security threats arising from the incident, and today sent a notice by e-mail clients Bottle domens”, Disspain said.
“While the AFP investigation is ongoing, it is not appropriate for auDA to make any further comment. However, auDA will take further action if necessary, when the investigation is completed.”
Domen Central is also understood to reset passwords following the breach.
Calls to the domen central core customer support number went directly to voicemail.
But in a separate e-mail clients, company, customer service team said that “no indication” of any bills that directly affected by the breach.
“We were aware of security attack on the other domen owned and operated by the Secretary of the Central domen of parent company and, although we have no evidence that any domen central accounts affected, and noted that the domen is at the center of an independent platform for the Registrar We believe that the issue of prudence, greater security measures are justified, “said e-mail.
“In the near future, Domen Central will be the introduction of new accounting functions that improve safety and awareness of changes in your services, in our continuing effort to improve performance and safety of our clients important services.”
